Before arranging my first full-time job, as the majority of fresh graduates, I did some job interviews. At the time, I rejected some job offers. And why? Because companies were not sufficiently attractive.
Today I can understand why I rejected those jobs. All college students have one or two dream companies to work for but most of them have never been on those companies and do not know anyone from there. And where does the interest in these companies come from? From the big investment that these companies do to generate attractiveness to work from.
A great company is made up of a high potential great team and so it is normal that companies strive to get the best talented people, as soon as they leave school. The competition is so high that the benefits are getting unusual, for example, a year of paid volunteer work before starting to work at the company. To be at the top your company must differentiate from the competition, creating their own culture, being able to attract the most talented people.
I began writing this post because I have received feedback from several companies that are having difficulty in recruiting people to work. In the competitive economy we live, this is what happens to a company that do not make any investment to recruit people and does not have a positive and distinctive internal culture. To have a top team you need to hire the top ones and to hire those you need to invest. Do not place ads on a newspaper but show what your company do and how your corporate culture supports and promotes your team career and well-being.
HR is a very important company department and must have a strong relationship with other company departments. The ones who can stay at the top in this hard competition will have their rewards in the future.
